Our myopia, a parable
To some, my thinking may appear strange and removed from the currently accepted thoughts of our times. What drives me is the reality that necessarily we are blinded by that which is immediately within our horizons, which effectively limits our ability to progress beyond our current state. (E.g. think of the movie "Idiocracy.")
I received a generic broadcast email from John Mauldin, one of the interesting people I follow. In that email is this pearl of wisdom to illustrate the above concept (and more).
There are these two young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, “Morning, boys, how’s the water?” And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, “What the hell is water?”
